Two Iranian Startups Alounak, Sheypoor Merging

Two Iranian startups, Alounak.com, an online platform active in the housing market, and Sheypoor, a classified ad site, say they have a merger agreement that is in the final stages.

Alounak founder Alireza Ashkan told news website Peivast, “Alounak’s merger with Sheypoor is moving ahead as planned. In the search of a viable partner our team studied all possible options and Sheypoor was selected.”

He did not elaborate on the value of the new company.

Ashkan said unlike other mergers this agreement does not entail any layoffs.

Under which brand name services will be sold has not been decided yet.

In recent years online businesses have grown exponentially in Iran. The housing and real estate sector is one key area where the changing times are visible with several websites and applications. The merger is expected to enable Alounak and Sheypoor to claim a bigger share of the market.
