Khatam al-Anbia Unveils Radar Systems

Four new air navigation radar systems dubbed ‘Negah’, ‘Sami’, ‘Sama’ and ‘Basir’ were inaugurated Monday morning in the presence of the commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base.

The new systems were unveiled at a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the defense base, Mehr News Agency reports.

Negah, the air reconnaissance and object identification system, was the first device manufactured at the base. It can quickly obtain accurate information from passing flights and enhance quick identification of each flight’s route.

The modern technology adds Iran’s name to the list of a small group of countries manufacturing similar systems.

Negah is an essential system for controlling air traffic. Its production will alleviate the need to import advanced air traffic control systems used by the Iran Civil Aviation Organization.

Basir designed to display and transmit radar information and navigation to the command and control network. It is a single device which simultaneously carries out tasks of six separate systems by analyzing and transmitting information to the air base.

The system reduces the need for staff per shift to 54 while at the same time boosting speed and accuracy of sending/receiving information.

Moreover, a portable system for collecting radar and navigation data called Sami has been produced in various sizes.

The device can be mounted on manned and unmanned aircraft to collect signaling, radar and navigation information from the closest point to target flights.
