A vacation site claiming to offer “the best package vacation deals” was launched at the end of 2016 according to local website news agency WEBNA, and is now being aggressively promoted. The new website and Android application called safaryabi.com (Find a Trip) is the latest entrant into an increasingly tight market of travel firms turning their business into applications and websites. The site offers deals, last-minute offers and hotel packages to several countries in Europe and Asia. Unfortunately for the owners of safaryabi.com, the website is falling behind competitors by a large margin. According to online similarweb.com, an online analytics website, the holiday site had 800plus viewers in the past month while alibaba.ir, a major local competitor, had 800,000. Last November the Tehran office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization licensed 20 online travel agencies to begin offering services.
