A deal is being negotiated with South Korea’s Samsung company to use Iranian handicraft for decorating phones, said the head of the Trade and Export Bureau of Iranian Handicrafts affiliated to Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization. If the deal is finalized, the bodies of the phones will be decorated with Iranian handicraft. The phones will be targeted at limited premium customers Pouya Mahmoudian was quoted by IRNA as saying. Using Iranian silver-works, papier-mâché, oil-color and lacquer Persian paintings or wood-carving will give the phones a unique appearance, he said. Mahmoudian added Korean carmakers such as Hyundai have also received proposals to use Iranian handicraft in designing vehicle interiors or offer car gifts such as key chains depicting Iranian handicraft. A joint conference will soon be held to finalize the proposed projects and sign a deal with the Koreans, the ICHHTO official said.
