The International Telecoms Union’s Telecom World 2016 was held in Bangkok from November 14 to 17.

On the sidelines of the event, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi met with Thailand’s deputy prime minister for infrastructure, Prajin Juntong.

Vaezi stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in the areas of communications and information technology.

The Iranian minister noted that business trips should lead to the acceleration, finalization and signing of bilateral agreements in the fields of post and regulatory affairs.

Vaezi added that the current economic situation presents an ideal opportunity for the two countries to expand cooperation in other areas such as energy, tourism and banking.

Juntong noted that the proposed MoUs are being investigated and prepared for signing.

“The Thai prime minister plans to visit Iran at the beginning of 2017. During that trip, more memorandums of understanding will be signed,” he added.
