The eighth Entrepreneurship and Business Development Festival will be hosted by Sharif University of Technology this winter.

Known as “VC Cup”, the event was first initiated by the Entrepreneurship Center of Sharif University of Technology. It includes different areas and attracts enthusiasts nationwide, Mehr News Agency reported.

The event includes two main sections: innovative ideas and business plans in the areas of information and communications technology. It looks to promote creativity and a spirit of entrepreneurship, while identifying emerging entrepreneurs and increasing their abilities in drafting business plans.

The festival presents an opportunity for students, graduates, professors and entrepreneurs to present their latest technical findings/products and breakthroughs in research.

The press release from the university says participants will become familiar with the basics of entrepreneurship, as they present their creative ideas to investors and organizations.

The top ideas will receive support from the Advanced Technologies Incubator Center of SUT, the Vice Presidential Office of Science and Technology and SUT’s Research and Technology Fund among others.

Awards include cash prizes, low-interest loans and incubator space at Sharif’s own startup accelerator.

The deadline for submitting initial ideas to the festival ends on October 13. The main areas in which ideas can be submitted are management, business, finance, economics, technical and engineering science and modern technologies.

Subsidiary areas include practical software, computer games, modern educational systems, banking and insurance solutions among many more.
