Iran’s Telecommunications Infrastructure Company (TIC) recently launched a website that provides service-level agreement reports.
SLA is a contract between a service provider and the end-user, which defines the level of service expected from the service provider. It is output-based in that their purpose is specifically to define what the customer will receive.
Present at the event was Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi, Managing Director of TIC Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi and director of Communication Regulatory Authority, Ali Asghar Amidian, local technology website ZOOMiT reported.
All Iranian Internet service providers are obliged to include SLA within the terms of their contracts so that customers are able to define the levels of service being sold.
On https://stats.tic.ir/, users can instantly access the SLA report of TIC `on latency, packet loss and jitter.
Latency is the amount of time it takes for a packet to travel from source to destination. In this case, latency refers to a delay in packet delivery and the variations in delay of packet delivery are called jitter.
Packet loss is the failure of one or more transmitted packets to arrive at their destination. This event can cause noticeable effects in all types of digital communications. Too much traffic in the network may cause the network to drop packets.
By referring to the website, users can discern where the source of a network problem lies. Accordingly, the institution violating its obligations will have to pay a fine.
