TCI to Launch IPTV Services

The Telecommunications Company of Iran will offer Internet Protocol Television services by the end of this week. For the start, users will have access to 32,000 movies via the service as well as educational videos, Mehr News Agency reported.  Five local companies have obtained licenses for delivering IPTV services this year. Other firms that had announced the launch of services include Baran Telecom and Aseman Consortium.  IPTV delivers television services using the Internet protocol suite over a packet-switched network such as LAN or the Internet, instead of being delivered through traditional terrestrial, satellite signal and cable television formats.
