Researchers from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran have developed and commercialized cell separators used for detecting cancer and treating infertility. Sina Asadalizadeh, the university’s program director for development and technology transfer, told Mehr News Agency that the cell separators have applications in laboratories and research centers. He maintained that the cell separator’s LS column containing microbeads separate the marked cells used in various experiments. Noting that separating cells are applicable for oncology and immunology, Asadalizadeh added that researchers are currently working on a different model of cell separators that can be used for infertility treatment. The separator, funded by Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council and approved by the Food and Drug Administration, is currently available in the market.
