Iranian student Amir Chitsaz of the Neuroscience Research Center of Tehran's Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences has been declared one of the finalists in the International Brain Bee 2015 competition.

Founded in 1999 and supported by the Society for Neuroscience, IBB is an international neuroscience competition in which students in the age-group of 14 to 18 can participate.

This year's edition is currently underway at Cairns, Australia, during August 20-26 at the joint International Society for Neurochemistry and in five sections, namely anatomy, histology, diagnosis, written short answer and live question-and-answer, IRNA reported.

Last year, Chitsaz won the local bee contest held in cooperation with the Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Council of Iran. He is mentored by Dr. Sareh Asadi, assistant professor at the university's Neuroscience Research Center, in the international round.

Brain Bees tests over 30 selected individuals' knowledge of the human brain, including such topics as intelligence, emotions, memory, sleep, vision, hearing, sensations, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke, schizophrenia, epilepsy, depression, addictions and brain research.
