Iran will hold the 5th edition of the National Exhibition of Iranian Aviation and Space Industries in the capital Tehran on October 21. The four-day event, to be held at Mehrabad Airport, will provide an opportunity for the Iranian state-owned and private companies, airlines, knowledge-based aerospace companies, academic centers, aviation publications and producers of aeronautical parts to showcase their abilities. Iranian officials say despite the US-led sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic, Iran has made acceptable progress in the quantity and quality of national civil air services in recent years. In 1995, the US obliged aviation companies to stop selling aircraft and spare parts to Iranian airlines. The US sanctions have endangered the safety of civil aviation in Iran because they prevent Tehran from acquiring parts and essential support for aviation safety.
