Consumer prices in urban areas stood at 16.3 percent in the 12 months ending on January 20 (marking the end of the Iranian month of Dey), according to the Central Bank of Iran (CBI). The consumer price index (CPI) at the end of the period was 212.3 points, showing a 0.3 percent hike compared to one month before, and 15.7 percent rise compared to the same month last year, the report said on Saturday. The CPI measures changes in the price of a basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households.
