In a bid to expand economic relations between the five Caspian Sea littoral states, Iran has proposed creating a Cooperation Council of Free Economic Zones (FEZ) in the region, which would pave the way for signing preferential trade agreements (PTA) among these countries, the Director General of Anzali free economic zone, Reza Masrour told Trend. Currently, there is no agreement between the littoral states on a preferential trade regime. Masrour added that signing PTA’s could give fresh impetus to the development of trade, and expansion of export and import among the Caspian Sea littoral states. The official said he intends to pay a visit to Azerbaijan in February to promote further economic and trade relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.
