Given the excessive amount of farmed chicken meat produced domestically, providing export incentives can facilitate the export of this product, Mohammad Yousefi, the head of Chicken Farmers’ Union told IRNA yesterday. About 10 to 15 thousand tons of chicken meat is exported to Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan annually and Russia will join the list after reaching agreements on the prices, he said. However, the country has the potential to increase its export level, he added. Iran produces 2 million tons of chicken meat per annum, i.e., 170 to 182 thousand tons per month, while domestic consumption stands at 130 thousand tons, he said.
