    Iran-Russia Non-Oil Trade Sees Over 80 Percent Hike (September 2018)

    Iran traded 956,662 tons of non-oil commodities worth close to $751.38 million with Russia during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21-Sept. 22).  

    This marks a 25.7% and 81.21% growth in weight and value respectively compared with the corresponding period of last year, latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show. 

    Iran’s exports to Russia stood at 212,605 tons worth over $118.16 million, up 17.63% and 20.77% in volume and value respectively year-on-year. Russia was Iran’s 21st export destination during the period.

    The above figures account for 0.38% and 0.51% of the tonnage and value of Iran’s total exports over the period respectively. 

    Iran mainly exported apples, fresh and frozen tomatoes, pistachio and kiwi to Russia during the six-month period. 

    Russia exported around 744,056 tons of goods worth more than $633.21 million to Iran, up 28.21% and 99.88% in tonnage and value respectively compared with the similar period of last year. Russia was the ninth biggest exporter of goods to Iran over the six months. 

    The above figures account for a respective 4.59% and 2.85% of the weight and value of Iran’s overall imports during the period.  

    The imports mainly included nuclear reactor parts, field corn, radio navigation devices and sunflower and safflower oils.

    A delegation representing Iran’s private sector, headed by deputy chairman of Khorramshahr Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Hani Feysali, discussed ways of expanding commercial and investment ties with their Russian counterparts in Moscow and St. Petersburg during a recent visit to Russia.

    The capacities of Arvand Free Trade Zone located in Khorramshahr in the southern Khuszestan Province was introduced to the Russian private sector in the course of several meetings, the news portal of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture reported on Tuesday. 

    According to the official, the Russian side expressed its willingness to import a wide range of commodities from Iran, including dates, fruit and vegetable, thread and petrochemical raw material and export pharmaceuticals.
