47% Rise in Yazd Rail Cargo Transportation

Close to 4 billion tons/kilometers of cargos were transported by Yazd Railways since the beginning of the current Iranian year on March 21, which shows a 47% rise compared with the similar period of last year, the director general of Yazd Railways General Bureau said on Monday.

“During the period, around 8.3 million tons of goods were loaded, registering an 11% increase year-on-year. More than 2.3 million tons of commodities were unloaded, indicating no significant change compared with the corresponding period of last year,” Mostafa Davoudi was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Davoudi noted that during the same period, some 530,000 passengers were transported via Yazd railroads to register a 15% growth YOY.
