With the aim of easing transactions, Iran and Iraq are planning to experience electronic data interchange (EDI) in the near future, the Islamic Republic Customs Administration Office (IRICA) website reported on Monday. Masoud Karbasian, the head of IRICA and his Iraqi counterpart, Jasim Hakim, discussed the move in a joint meeting in Tehran on Monday. According to Iranian officials, fifteen percent of Iraq’s foreign trade is with Iran. Iran exported about $13 billion worth of goods to Iraq in the past Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2013-March 20, 2014) and efforts are being made to increase this amount to $25 billion in the current year.
