Iran Tea Organization announced plan to form a fund to develop and protect tea cultivation. The head of the organization, Ali Moharer, said the decision comes after the production of tea was announced to total 13,985 tons this year, which shows a 24% reduction compared to last year. Reduced rainfall and unprecedented temperatures have caused serious challenges for tea planters. Moreover, merely 14% of the planters could insure their tea farms and other farmers suffered losses in hot summers. Tea is cultivated in the northern coastal provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran.
