Tehran accounted for 58% of government’s tax revenues (560 trillion rials or $12.87 billion) in the last fiscal year (March 2017-18), Mohammad Reza Nouri, the director of Tax Administration of Tehran Province, said. Out of 4.5 million tax-paying entities in the country, about 1.2 million are based in Tehran, who declared an aggregate of about 11,000 billion rials ($252.87 million) to tax authorities last year.
