Russia has imported its first shipment of Iranian shrimp, Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati announced in Bushehr as reported by IRNA on Tuesday. The minister said about 20 thousand tons of shrimp have been farmed since the beginning of the current year (March 21, 2014) and considering the large volume of investment made in this area, the country can play a dominant role in the region. Earlier, the head of Iran’s Fisheries Union, Arsalan Qasemi said shrimp production in the country has witnessed a 100% increase since last year, reaching 15,000 tons annually. He noted that Iran exports 95% of its shrimp, stressing that Russia is an ideal market for future exports.
