Dairy manufacturers are selling their products at cheaper prices a few days before their expiry date, due to the dramatic fall in domestic consumption, ISNA reported on Monday. Following the latest increase in the price of dairy products, consumers’ purchasing power dropped drastically and manufacturers are currently left with an excessive amount of products in warehouses. Under such circumstances, some officials, including Reza Bakeri, the secretary of Iran Dairy Industry Society, strongly believe that the price rise has not had a significant impact on the consumers’ consumption pattern and their reluctance stems from the prevailing recession in the economy. The official proposed that the only solution to solve this problem is to price dairy products based on the supply and demand in the market.
