Iran Civil Aviation Organization has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Civil Aviation Directorate of Serbia on expansion of flights between the two countries, Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development’s news service reported on Sunday.
As per the agreement, Air Serbia Airline will begin flights to Iran in two months. Currently, only two flights a week to Serbia are carried out in Iran. However, once the preparations are made, the number of flights will increase to six by the end of the Iranian month ending July 22.
Serbia abolished visa requirements for Iranians from August 23, 2017, and in return Iran did the same for Serbian citizens from October of that year. After a gap of 27 years, direct flights between Iran and Serbia resumed on March 10, 2018, when an Iran Air jet touched down at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport. Iran Air is conducting direct flights between Tehran and Belgrade twice weekly, with all flights fully booked until the end of summer.
