    Melons Exported to 25 Countries

More than 86,150 tons of melons worth over 1 trillion rials ($30 million) were exported from Iran to 25 countries in the last Iranian year (March 2017-18), according to the latest figures released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.

Germany, the UK, China, Turkey, Switzerland, Denmark and Malaysia were the main export destinations, Mizan Online reported.

Some agricultural experts object to the export of water-intensive crops, such as melons, citing Iran’s acute water scarcity, while others believe the solution to overcoming water shortage is not restricting trade but applying efficient water management techniques to the cultivation of crops.
