The government is planning to spend about 1.1 billion dollars (based on official exchange rate) on rural houses, Azizollah Mahdian, vice president for restoration and retrofitting of rural houses said on Thursday. Speaking in Damqan, Semnan province, the official said that the government will provide rural families with low interest rate loans worth 5,500 dollars to restore and reinforce their houses against natural disasters like earthquakes. There are six commercial banks in the country assigned to provide rural families with low interest loans, Mahdian said.
