More than 70,000 tons of commodities worth $39.4 million were exported from the northern Gilan Province during the Iranian month ending April 20, which is up by 135% and 86% in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period.
According to Abolqasem Yousefinejad, an official with Gilan Customs Administration, exports mainly included mineral products, vegetable, fruit, dates, raisins, tea, glass, food products, textile and plastic products, ISNA reported.
Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Georgia and Persian Gulf littoral states were the main export destinations.
The port of Astara, bordering the Republic of Azerbaijan, had the lion’s share of exports from Gilan Province.
