Top government officials, managing directors, members of the board of directors, provincial governors, as well as mayors and city councilors of provincial capitals will not receive a pay rise in the current fiscal year (March 2018-19), the Iranian Cabinet decided on Wednesday.
The Cabinet also set a 6-12% increase in the wages of public employees. Pensioners will also see a 10% increase in monthly payments while all government employees and pensioners must receive at least 12 million rials ($285) this year, IRNA reported.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Labor Council decided that minimum wages will rise by 19.8% in the new Iranian year that started on March 21. After a dozen sessions, representatives of workers, employers and the government agreed to increase last year’s (March 2017-18) minimum wage from 9.29 million rials (about $185.8) to 11.14 million rials ($222.8) this year.
