Payments to the Civil Servants Pension Organization accounted for the biggest part of the government’s expenditure in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21-April 20).
The fund has a total of 1,327,993 pensioners and needs government aid to stay afloat, the news portal of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture reported. The government has paid an average of 18.07 million rials (around $430) per pensioner to CSPO during the period under review.
The Armed Forces Social Security Organization was the second biggest budget spender as it received a total of 23.4 trillion rials ($557.14 million) from the government last month. The government made over 1,577 payments under the titles of “salaries and bonuses” and “other unavoidable expenditure”.
