Iran's Imam Khomeini Airport Company plans to hold an international tender to select qualified contractor to develop the first phase of a new airport passenger terminal (named Iranshahr) and related infrastructure with a planned capacity of 25 million passengers per year at the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran.

The estimated cost of the project is around €2 billion, a minimum 85% of which should be provided by selected EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor through finance loans, AviationPros.com reported.

Interested parties are requested to submit their formal letter of interest, resume and the following items via email to Iranshahrterminal@naco3t.com no later than May 21, 2018:

- Letter of intent from an international bank or financial institute to finance the project, acceptable to the Central Bank of Iran.

- LOI from an international private insurance company or governmental export credit agency to insure the loan provided for the project, acceptable to the Central Bank of Iran.

According to Shahram Adamnejad, the CEO of Imam Khomeini International Airport, the construction of Iranshahr Terminal will start in the new Iranian year (started March 21).

Adamnejad said the development of the new terminal will entail three phases and have the capacity to handle 100 million passengers per year upon completion.

Latest statistics show Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport registered over 58,000 takeoffs and landings in 2017. A total of 10 million passengers used the airport last year.
