More than 107.98 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in ports located in the southern Hormozgan Province in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2018), registering a 7.4% rise compared to the previous year, the director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization said. “Non-oil products accounted for close to 72.1 million tons and oil products for over 35.8 million tons of the total throughput, registering an 8.6% and 5.1% growth respectively,” Allah-Morad Afifipour was also quoted by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development as saying. Around 41.5 million tons of non-oil commodities were exported from the Hormozgan ports last year, experiencing a 9.2% rise year-on-year, while imports of these products hit 10.04 million tons, unchanged compared with the previous year. Nearly 5.52 million tons and 3.46 million tons of non-oil products were transited and transshipped through Hormozgan ports respectively during the same period, up 22.8% and 53% respectively YOY. Container activity at the provincial ports amounted to 2.45 million TEUs, registering a 15.5% growth YOY. Moreover, 42,791 vessels entered these ports last year, of which 5,372 weighed over 1,000 tons and marked a 19.9% rise YOY.
