More than 12,300 tons of different kinds of soap worth over 523 billion rials ($15.33 million) were imported into Iran in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2018), figures released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show.
Indonesia with around $4.62 million was the biggest exporter of soap to Iran over the period, followed by Germany, the UAE, Italy, Turkey, China, France, Malaysia and India, Mizan Online reported.
Interestingly, Iran also exports soap. Latest available IRICA data show about 7,350 tons of soap worth more than 234.5 billion rials ($5.58 million) were exported to 20 countries during the first half of last year (March 21-Sept. 22), mainly to Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Georgia.
