Avian Flu Outbreak Persists

Thirteen chicken farms have been infected with avian flu since the beginning of the new Iranian year (started March 21), Ali-Safar Makan-Ali, an official with Iran’s Veterinary Organization, said.

The infected chicken farms are located in the provinces of Isfahan, Qazvin, Hamedan and Yazd, Fars News Agency reported.

More than 27 million chickens have been culled since the recent outbreak of avian flu in Iran in late 2017.

The outbreak is said to have inflicted losses on Iranian poultry farms worth more than half a billion dollars.
