During the Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays (from March 15 to April 6), a total of 758,963 trips made by Iran’s public road transportation fleet handled 7,788,879 passengers, registering a 3.4% increase and 6% decrease respectively year-on-year, according to deputy minister of roads and urban development. “Close to 70,000 public road transportation vehicles operated during the period, 58% of which were buses, 23% were minibuses and 19% were intercity taxis,” Abdolhashem Hassan-Nia was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.  “More than 1.85 million passengers were transported via railroads from March 16 to April 4, indicating a 10.1% increase YOY,” the deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways for passenger affairs, Mir Hassan Mousavi, said. Mousavi added that 4,840 trains were used for passenger transportation during the period, which registered a 15% increase YOY.
