More than 1.85 million passengers were transported via railroads in Iran during the Iranian New Year holidays, known as Norouz, from March 16 to April 4.
“The figure indicates a 10.1% increase year-on-year,” Mir Hassan Mousavi, the deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways for passenger affairs, said.
“During the period, 4,840 trains were used for passenger transportation, which registered a 15% increase YOY,” the official was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
