The Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare has started its distribution of food aid package on Thursday. Each food package is worth 350,000 rials ($7.5) for a single person and 700,000 rials ($15) for a two-member household. According to Labor Minister Ali Rabiei, 11 million low-income Iranians will receive the food aid package, Mehr News Agency reported. “A majority of the recipients are covered by Imam Khomeini Relief Committee and State Welfare Organization. The budget allocated to this food assistance program has increased by up to 500 billion rials ($10.6 million) compared with the previous round of distribution,” he added. The Imam Khomeini Relief Committee and State Welfare Organization are Iranian charitable organizations that support poor families. The aim is to help such families regain financial stability.
