Iranian export prices for steel billet and slab continued to rise in the week that ended on March 7 with bookings agreed at higher prices, supported by the uptrend in the global market and reduced availability of the materials.

Metal Bulletin’s weekly price assessment for Iranian billet exports narrowed upward to $518-520 per ton FOB on March 7, against $510-520 per ton FOB a week earlier.

Several cargoes of Iranian billet were reportedly sold to the Middle East and East Asia within that range.

A total of 40,000 tons of billet was also booked by one trader for sale to Oman at $520 per ton FOB southern ports of Iran.

And customers in Indonesia booked a cargo of Iranian billet at $550 per ton CFR, equivalent to $520 per ton FOB southern ports of Iran.

The weekly Iranian export price assessment for steel slab increased to $540 per ton FOB on March 7, against the previous range of $515-535 per ton FOB.

Mobarakeh Steel Company, the country’s largest flat steel and slabs supplier, sold slab at $540 per ton FOB to Southeast Asia in a recent tender.
