The Third Exhibition of Villagers and Nomadic Capabilities is scheduled to open in Tehran’s Permanent Fairground on Tuesday in the presence of First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri.
The four-day event, according to its official website Irdx.ir, is aimed at introducing cultural and tourist attractions in Iranian villages, connecting urban inhabitants with rural people and providing a platform for villagers and nomads to market their products and services.
According to the deputy head of Iran Nomad Affairs Organization, Shapour Alaei-Moqaddam, nomads make up 2% of Iran’s total population with 230,000 households, ILNA reported. These communities reportedly account for 28% of the country’s meat and 35% of handicraft production.
