Eleven million low-income Iranians will receive food aid package in the current Iranian week (that starts on Saturday), Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei said. “A majority of the recipients are covered by Imam Khomeini Relief Committee and State Welfare Organization. The budget allocated to this food assistance program has increased by up to 500 billion rials ($11.1 million) compared with the previous round,” IRNA quoted the minister as saying. According to Rabiei, close to 4.7 million Iranians are supported by IKRC and 3.6 million by SWO, as well as 3 million female householders.
