Beef Import Tariffs Reduced to 12%

Iran’s Cabinet members have reduced import tariffs on frozen beef from 26% to 12%.
The decision was communicated to the ministries of agriculture, industries and economy on Sunday, IRNA reported.
About 820,000 tons of red meat, accounting for 90% of the domestic demand, are produced in Iran every year. Annual imports stand at about 100,000 tons.
Iran imports beef mainly from Brazil and lamb from Australia, Armenia, Georgia, Dagestan, Mongolia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
