New Airline Acquires 3 Secondhand Airbus Jets

Three Airbus A319 secondhand jets landed in Mashhad International Airport on Wednesday and are expected to join the fleet of a newly-established Iranian airline, Tehran Air. Reza Jafarzadeh, the head of public relations office at Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, confirmed that the three airplanes belong to Tehran Air, which is set to start operations in the spring of 2018. The three Airbus jets were made in 2002, Fars News Agency reported. The airline will start operations with five Airbus A319 jets, two of which have been delivered in previous months.  CEO of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization Ali Abedzadeh told Financial Tribune that 10 companies have obtained permits to establish new airlines in the country. “Each new airline needs at least 3-5 aircraft depending on its activity and the type of license it acquires,” Abedzadeh said.
