Chicken Consumption on the Rise

Iran’s per capita chicken consumption has gone up from last year’s 26 kilograms to 28 kilograms at present.
Deputy Agriculture Minister Hassan Rokni added that 2.25 million tons of poultry meat are produced annually in Iran, which is twice the global average, IRNA reported.
Rokni noted that Iran is the world’s seventh biggest broiler chicken producer.
Iranian poultry farms are grappling with a deadly outbreak of avian flu these days. Some 25 million chickens have been culled since the virus was first detected in December 2016.
