‘Iran Agri Show 2018’ to Open on Feb. 24

The International Exhibition of Agriculture, also known as ‘Iran Agri Show 2018’, is scheduled to be held at Tehran International Fairground from Feb. 24 to 27, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Agricultural Mechanization Expansion Center announced. Kambiz Abbasi added that some 150 Iranian and foreign companies from Turkey, China, Switzerland, India, France and Taiwan are expected to participate in the upcoming event to showcase their latest products and services related to agricultural tools, machineries, raw materials and irrigation systems, ILNA reported. “The agricultural mechanization coefficient in Iran currently stands at 1.62 horsepower per hectare, which is expected to increase to 2.1 hp/ha by the end of the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (2017-21),” Abbasi said. According to Deputy Agriculture Minister Abdolmehdi Bakhshandeh, about 4.2 million tons of agricultural products worth $4 billion were exported from Iran during the nine months to Dec. 22, 2017. “Agricultural products made up 12.7% of Iran’s total non-oil exports in terms of value and 4.74% in terms of tonnage during the nine-month period,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA.
