Cash subsidies are affecting the economy the same way a fatal poison affects human organs, Jamshid Barzegar, head of mass builders’ union, said on Thursday. He added that “the government should explain the destructive effects of the previous governments’ policies to the public” in order to clarify the current situation. The Rouhani administration has been complaining about the undeveloped economic policies of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government over his eight years in office. Specifically, the current government is opposed to one of Ahmadinejad’s most favored plans known as Mehr Housing Project (MHP). Officials believe that MHP is one of the main causes behind the current galloping inflation and economic instability.
