Golestan Province has exported $224.83 million worth of goods during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21-December 21, 2014), Ali Akbar Shamani, the director general of the province’s customs office said. According to IRNA, the figure shows a 30-percent rise compared to the corresponding figure of last year, which was $172.94 million. Shamani said the volume of exports during the period totaled 368.55 million tons, indicating an 84-percent growth compared to the same period last year. The export items included cheese, frozen chicken, tomato paste, polyethylene pipes, poultry feed, cement and concrete beams, destined for Turkmenistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, India, Russia, Armenia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Indonesia and Vietnam. He added that in this period, Turkmenistan and Iraq with $126.91 million and $62.5 million, respectively, (56.45 percent and 27.8 percent of the total amount) were the main importers of Iranian goods in the 8-month period. Shamani noted that the province has customs offices in Incheh-Boroun, Bandar Torkaman, Gorgan and Gonbad-e Kavous.
