Majlis Joint Commission approved the outlines of the budget bill for the next fiscal year (March 2018-19) on Sunday and will weigh the details of the bill in the coming weeks, the spokesman of the commission said.
“Any decision to be made about the country’s budget will be aligned with serving the public interests, particularly low-income people,” Ali Asghar Yousefnejad was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
The joint commission is a parliamentary body responsible for reviewing the budget bill as well as five-year development plans proposed by the government before its final ratification. President Hassan Rouhani presented next year’s budget bill to the parliament on Dec. 10.
Since then, members of the special commissions of the parliament have put forward their proposals and amendments to the bill to the joint commission that will present the new version of the budget bill to the open session of parliament in about three weeks.
