By the end of the fiscal year (March 20), economic growth is expected to reach 2.5 percent if the oil market remains stable, according to Saeed Laylaz, a Tehran-based economist. In an interview with IRNA on Monday, he called the falling oil prices a great challenge facing the administration “since low oil revenues can curb economic growth.” Laylaz confirmed the authenticity of the recent central bank report that showed the economy grew by 4 percent in the first half of the year. However, he expressed regret that the announced growth has not yet been tangible in people’s lives. He hoped that people would soon feel positive changes.
