Nondurable consumer goods generated 13.9% of the value added in Iran’s industrial sector, created 28% of industrial jobs and consumed 12.9% and 11.9% of the water and fuel used in the sector respectively between the fiscal March 2004-14. This was announced by a faculty member of the Institute for Trade Studies and Research affiliated to the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade by Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture’s news portal.

Afsaneh Shafiei added that 98% of nondurable goods produced in Iran during the years under review were sold in the domestic market.

Nondurable goods, as opposed to durable ones, have a short lifespan like food and drinks.
