A two-day international conference on boosting economic relations between Iran and the North Caucasus region concluded in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in Russia on Wednesday.
The event was held in North Ossetian State University in Vladikavkaz, the capital city of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
The conference was aimed at reviewing cultural and historical ties as well as ways to develop trade relations between Iran and North Caucasus, Tasnim News Agency reported.
It was attended by senior officials of the two countries in political, economic and academic sectors.
The North Caucasus or Ciscaucasia is the northern part of the Caucasus region, and includes the Russian Republics of Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Adygea, North Ossetia–Alania, Karachay, Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Stavropol Krai.
The Muslim-majority region borders Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
