The Fifth International Exhibition of Nuts, Dried Fruits and Related Industries is scheduled to open early next year, gathering tens of production, processing and exporting companies in the field.

As reported by ILNA, the expo, known as IRAN NUTEX 2018, will be held from January 3 to 6, 2018, at Tehran’s International Permanent Fairground.

Producers and distributors of nuts will showcase their products and related machinery and equipment in the expo. The four-day event is aimed at increasing domestic output, expanding exports, introducing latest technology regarding processing and packaging of nuts to domestic producers and boosting job creation.

In the previous edition of the expo last year, over 110 companies from across the country as well as 28 foreign countries attended.

Iran annually produces 200,000 tons of pistachios, 160,000 tons of raisins, 150,000 tons of walnuts, 1.2 million tons of dates, 35 tons of figs, 50,000 tons of almonds, 330 tons of beans, 90,000 tons of lentils, 300,000 tons of chickpea and 270 tons of saffron.

Currently, over $2 billion worth of Iranian nuts are exported annually to over 80 countries, including Germany, the US, France, the UK, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Persian Gulf countries, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Russia.
