Close to 191,000 tons of non-oil goods worth $103 million were exported from Iran’s northwestern port city of Astara during the eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Nov. 21), director general of Astara Customs Bureau, Rasoul Omidi, said on Monday.

Food and agricultural products, carpet, construction materials, minerals, cement, detergents, chemicals, shoes and bags were the main commodities exported from Astara to a host of countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia, Mana reported.

About 165,000 tons of non-oil goods valued at $58 million, including chemicals, machinery, wood and home appliances, were imported into Astara during the same period mainly from the same three countries.

According to Omidi, Astara earned 267.79 billion rials ($6.53 million) in customs revenue during the period, which indicates a 10% decrease compared with the same period of last year.
