H1 Industrial Job Creation Up 16%

According to the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade, 44,719 jobs were created in 27 industrial fields in Iran during the first half of the current fiscal year (March 21-Sept. 22), registering a 16% rise compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Brownfield and greenfield sites accounted for 18,957 and 25,762 of the jobs created and indicated a 66% upsurge and a 5% fall respectively, the Persian daily Donya-e-Eqtesad reported.

With 6,871, 5,996, 5,148, 4,451 and 3,456 jobs created, the fields of food and drinkables, chemical materials and products, metals, plastic and rubber products and non-metal mineral products generated the most employment over the six-month period.

The top five provinces creating the most jobs were Isfahan with 4,213, Tehran with 3,792, Alborz with 3,663, East Azarbaijan with 3,110 and Qazvin with 2,755.

The number of jobs created in Isfahan, East Azarbaijan and Qazvin registered a 15%, 36% and 62% growth respectively while those for Tehran and Alborz show 7% and 16% decline respectively year-on-year.

Industrial job creation in Iran’s free trade and special economic zones experienced a 109% hike to stand at 2,069. Aras, Chabahar and Anzali were the top FTZs in terms of job creation over the period under review.
